Conclusion
This internship allowed me to stretch out and develop personally into areas that I felt needed to be pushed. I found quickly that I had to emphasis my organizational skills; I was exposed to continual meetings, deadlines and having to follow up with people. The strongest aspect of this internship was program development I had come up with ideas and follow through on them from start to finish.
The structure of this internship was well suited for my development and ability to research and network. It allowed me the flexibility to reach out to the community and find resources and mentors that I would otherwise not have direct access to. The structure made the possibilities limitless, the resources abundant and the experience rich.
To improve this internship I would recommend more clearly defined expectations and responsibilities. With all of the freedom to explore there needs to be a well-defined way of measuring outcomes. The clearest way for me to determine these was to use the 4828 goals and objectives.
The work that I did for WMA was very instrumental in the development and growth of the organization. I felt that the value was truly felt by everyone that was involved in WMA. I key spearheading many of the programs that helped set the organization in a positive direction. As much as I relied on Wasatch Mountain Arts for my internship they relied on my contributions to move them forward in a positive direction.
I would defiantly recommend this internship, it allowed for creativity and exploration outside of the organization. It would defiantly take a student that is self motivated driven to succeed. This internship allows for trail and error, with mistakes comes growth, a student that is discouraged by failing and starting again would not do well in this environment. The projects and assignments at Wasatch Mountain Arts stretched my skills and abilities. I had to reach deep inside myself to make this internship work.
